One of the great things about roulette, is that is has such a rich variety of bets that you can make on the table. The only games that comes close is craps. You’ll find all of the different bets in the menu -it’s always worth studying your options- you’ll get more out of the game.
People have been betting on the wheel for centuries, and there has been no shortage of players who reckon that they’ve found the key to winning, through a combination of different types of betting layouts.
In this section we are going to run through the different types of bets you can make, ranging from the basic “bet on the red or black” which everyone can understand, to the more complex and exotic call bets like “Voisins du Zero” (neighbours of zero) or the Jeu Zero bet, for example, which all the best roulette casinos should cater for.
The best way to bet on roulette If pushed, consider betting, say, five units each round on an even-money bet, and one unit a round on a more adventurous play. With a little luck, with these best roulette bet combinations, you will be marginally ahead with your even-money bets, which will pay for your gamble on the single numbers. Roulette is a drain on your wallet simply because the game doesn’t pay what the bets are worth. With 38 numbers (1 to 36, plus 0 and 00), the true odds of hitting a single number on a straight-up bet are 37 to 1, but the house pays only 35 to 1 if you win! Ditto the payouts on the combination bets.

Outside and Inside
There are 2 main types of roulette bet you can play, (if we ignore the call bets for a second). These are the Inside Bets and the Outside Bets- the names refer to where you place your chips at the table.
Inside bets
Straight Up: a bet on a single number. Place your chip in the middle of a number square. Pays 35:1. (You’d use this in the Pivot Roulette System, for example). Split Bet: bet on 2 adjacent numbers either vertically or horizontally. Put your chip on the line between the 2 numbers. Pays 17:1. Street Bet: bet on 3 numbers on one line across. Put your chip on the edge of the line at the end (either side). Pays 11.6:1 Corner or Square Bet: bet on 4 numbers in a square. Put your chip on the intersection of the lines between the numbers. Pays 8.5:1 Six Line Bet: 2 adjacent street bets. Put your chip where the 2 streets cross. Pays 5.33:1
Let’s start with the best roulette bet. These bets cover much of the table and does not focus on a single betting space. These are as follows: 1. Even-money bets. These bets have the highest winning odds in roulette, and naturally has the lowest payout. These are bets placed on the red, black, even, odd, low numbers, and high numbers betting spaces.
This is a roulette strategy where split bets are placed on 14 numbers. Total bets are 70 units, and a winning spin will pay 90 units, giving then 20 units pr.
Find a roulette table with a high max bet and a small minimum. Bet a small amount on black or red; even or odd; or 1-18 or 19-36. Keep your wager on the same spot on the table until you hit it. If you keep losing, keep betting a very small amount. When you hit your bet and win, double your bet on the same spot for the next round.
Outside bets
Outside bets are generally lower risk bets with higher roulette odds BUT the payout is lower, and you may not be able to play these with your welcome bonus at some casinos. Many casinos categorise bets into low, medium and high risk depending on the table coverage. A bet on the red is normally considered medium risk. A bet on 2 columns would be considered low risk as you are covering almost two thirds of the table (remember there’s that pesky zero pocket (or pockets in American Roulette). 1 to 18: a low bet: on one of the first 18 numbers. Pays 1:1. 19 to 36: a high bet: one of the high 18 numbers. Pays 1:1. Red or Black: a colour bet. Pays 1:1. Even or Odd: another “even money” bet- you are predicting that an even or odd number will drop in. Pays 1:1. Dozens: a bet on the 1st dozen (1-12), 2nd dozen (13-24), or 3rd dozen (25-36). Pays 2:1. Column Bets: bet on 12 numbers in a column. Place the bet below the final number in the column. Pays 2:1.
Call Bets
There are also a number of more exotic bets that you can play in roulette, called “Call Bets” because you can call them out at many casinos and the croupier will place them for you. if you are playing online roulette, you´ll find most of them on the more advanced variants like Premier Roulette Diamond which includes options for the Roulette Snake Bet and Jeu Zero (Zero Game), for example.

Step 1
Buy one stack of chips. In this example we will assume that the chips are of $1 denomination, so you will buy in for $20. Once you have your chips you need to break them down into 5 stacks of 4 chips each. You then need to play five of the 6-line bets, so each stack of 4 chips you have on 5 of the 6-line bets.
It is important that you cover as many numbers as possible, so make sure that you spread them out so each bet is covering two rows on their own, and not doubling up with another bet. As you will be covering 5 out of the 6 winning possible 6-lines, you stand a high chance of winning. If you win, you will win 20 chips (4 x 5 = 20), so including your winning bet you will now have a total of 24 chips.
Step 2 is very easy. You need to break down your 24 chips in half, so you have two stacks of 12 chips. You then put one of the stacks of 12 on one of the dozens, and the other stack on another of the dozens. So you now have two out of the three dozen’s covered. If the ball lands in one of your dozens you will win 2-1 on your bet, so that will pay you 24 chips, plus the 12 from the winning bet will mean you now have a total of 36 chips.
Tip: To optimize your chances more, play European Roulette in your online casino account. This is because you have a better chance of success with even money outside bets when playing European rather than American roulette. You can play European Roulette here
Step 3
Bets In Roulette
Now you have a total of 36 chips, and you want to break these down into 6 stacks of 6 chips (when playing online Roulette, you won’t actually be able to break the chips down into stacks, but you should just place 6 bets of 6 chips). Next you need to cover 6 corner bets with your 6 chip stacks. Make sure you spread them out as much as possible and do not double up on any numbers so you have as much of the table covered as possible.
If you hit a winner you will win 48 chips (6 x 8 = 48), then with your winning bet you will now have a total of 54 chips.
Step 4
Now with your 54 chips you will need to break them down into 9 stacks of 6 chips, and then place them on any 9 of the 12 possible street bets. Again you are giving yourself a good chance of winning by covering the majority of the possibilities, with your bets. If you hit a winner your bet will pay out 66 chips (6 x 11 = 66), plus with the 6 chips you have from your winning bet you will now have a total of 72 chips.
Step 5
Now with your 72 chips, you need to break them down into 14 stacks of 5 chips. The next bets you are going to cover are the splits, so place your bets on 14 different split bets and make sure that you do not double up on any numbers so you can cover as much of the table as possible. You will have 2 chips left over when you do this, so place these 2 chips straight up on any of the empty numbers as a kind of insurance.
Now if you hit a winning split bet, you will win a total of 85 chips (5 x 17 = 85), plus the 5 chips you have from the winning bet will give you a total of 90 chips.
Step 6
You now have 90 chips from your initial $20 buy-in, so you are doing well. But there is one final step that can improve your winnings even more. Now we are going to bet straight up bets, the highest paying bet on the Roulette wheel. So for this you need to break your 90 chips down into 22 stacks of 4 chips (total 88 chips) and you will have 2 left over for insurance.
So now you are going to place your 22 stacks of 4 chips on any of the straight up numbers. Do not double up, make sure you just use 4 chips maximum on any number so you cover as much of the table as possible. Then with the remaining 2 chips, place them on any of the empty numbers (1 chip on each), so if you do hit one of these you can start the process again.
Now if you hit a winning number you will win a total of 140 chips (4 x 35 = 140), plus with the 4 chips you have from the winning bet you now have a total of 144 chips, so $144 in this case. This is a good return on your $20 investment! If you are looking for the best Roulette strategy to try now on your online Roulette game, give this one a go….it works very well!
